Anonymous Giving!

Have you ever gave money or a gift to someone anonymously?

Imagine how fun it would be to go to a restaurant and just pay for a couples meal without them ever knowing. Or paying for the entire restaurants meals. You just ask the waiter to put everyone’s bill on yours and to give everyone their bill with a note saying your bill has been taking care of, and God loves you! What would be even more fun is when everyone starts looking around to see who did such a kind act, and you knowing that you just paid for everyone’s meal act like you have no clue and start asking who could have done this.

Or what about finding a few families that are having a difficult time paying their debt, and you pay off all of their debt including their mortgage without them knowing. Imagine their faces when they get a letter from their bank saying all your debts have been paid.

Or if you found a few students who were hard workers that got into a College or University of their dreams, only to find out they can’t go because they cannot afford it. You contact the College and pay for their tuition, books and residence fees and ask the College to send them a letter saying that all of their tuition, books, and residence fees have been paid in full by an anonymous donor.

These are random acts of kindness that would change anyone’s life. I always think how this world would be a better place if more of us did random acts of kindness. I know most people cannot afford to do the things I’ve mentioned. But there are many other things that can be done on a smaller scale such as:

  • Buy a gift card to a coffee shop and leave it with a homeless person that is sleeping (imagine waking up knowing that you are getting a free cup of coffee and a donut. Who knows when his last meal was)
  • If you notice someone’s parking ticket is about to expire, you can purchase another one and place it under their windshield wiper
  • Leave change at a vending machine for the next person to get a free snack
  • Leave your quarter in the shopping cart, so the next person gets a free shopping cart and a free quarter
  • Give away something free on Craigslist
  • Leave an umbrella at the subway exit on a rainy day for someone who may have forgotten theirs
  • Drop off a toy at a hospital
  • Open the phone book (yes they still have these) pick a name and send someone movie tickets, a book, or a grocery store gift card anonymously
  • Leave a co-workers favorite candy or chocolate in their mail-box
  • If you have a friend that can use a helping hand financially, send them $5, $10, or $20 cash anonymously

This is what becoming wealthy is all about in my opinion. Finding fun ways to give!

What anonymous acts of kindness have you done?

This is something that I've definitely want to do! Going to make this my mission for the summer.

  2. I've mowed the grass for a neighbor while they weren't home. Not all anoynmous giving has to be with money!

I've left the quarter in a shopping cart a few times–it's always fun to see someone's face when they realize they don't have to dig out a quarter. And it doesn't cost that much! I've shoveled snow for some neighbors in the past (back when I was living in NY) and felt great doing it. I got some exercise and they didn't have to worry about getting up early!

  4. I used to do this for friends' runs — donate anonymously and then listen to them wonder who did. Now it's a lot harder to donate anonymously, and that's irritating.

  5. So far I have given things to Goodwill and loacal donation centers. Every time they didn't ask my name, so they were anonymous giving

  6. Thanks for invoking the thoughts on this one. Giving anonymously is definitely more satisfying.
