Would You Be A Human Guinea Pig For Money?

Have you ever or do you know anyone who has participated in a clinical trial? These can be a way to earn some serious cash in a short period of time. I use to have a friend that participated in these all the time. He would see the ad in the newspaper or hear an advertisement on the radio and jump all over it.

All clinical trials are different and vary depending on the type of drug that’s being tested and the stage of the research they are in. Some trials are for just the weekend and can pay between $500-$1000 and others can be for longer periods of time and pay much more.

My friend use to get so excited anytime he got accepted into one of these clinical trials. I always thought he was crazy for putting his body through drug testing for money. But he just kept thinking it was a great way to make some quick cash.

Before being accepted he would have to go through a series of tests to make sure he was healthy and he was what they were looking for, for the particular drug that was being tested. Once accepted he would have to sign a waiver which explained all of the possible side affects and how they were not responsible if he got sick.

Most of the trials he would participate in were weekend studies. I remember him telling me that everyone had to do the same thing at the same time. So they would arrive on a friday evening until Sunday afternoon. Everyone ate at the same time, ate the exact same amount of food,(they had to eat all the food that was given to them) slept at the same time and took the drugs at the same time. This was done to see how each person would react to the drugs.

Some people would actually participate in several for the month. It’s not encouraged to participate in these trials back to back because the previous drug may still be in their system, which can of course cause serious problems. But hey, if you’re only objective is to make money, then I guess it doesn’t matter.

Have you or would you participate in a clinical trial?

I haven't but I've always been interested in doing one of those things.

I haven't participated in a clinical trial and would never want to. I have a little bit of a phobia when it comes to clinics and hospitals. They always seem so creepy and gross. My sister had to go to the ER because she burned her leg on a motorcycle muffler. While we were there, I noticed all the seats in the ER had butt prints on them. I mean full cupped butt cheek prints it was soooo gross. If I participated in one of those trials, I'd drive myself crazy thinking about all the side effects, germs, and other crazy possible outcomes. Guinea pig experiments are definitely, not for me.

I did a clinical trial for a medicine I was already taking. Basically I would either get a placebo or get the real deal. If I got the placebo it just meant that I was delaying clearing up my issue(asthma) a month. Since my asthma was not serious I decided to give them a hand and help out.

I did one but it was on a drug that had already passed legislation and was on the market. They were testing different dosage methods for a vaccination. It was super easy, they paid me like 100 bucks to show up 3 times over a year for like 10mins.
